Fake Beats by Dr Dre headphones-tips on how to spot a counterfeit


Fake Beats by Dr Dre headphones are among the most seized items over the past year, Trading Standards has said.

The fake Dr Dre headphones are sometimes found on market stalls. Some 200,000 pairs have been taken by officers and customs at UK ports.It was the first time that had seen the mass production of counterfeit headphones,said the organization.

Dr Dre is a leading headphone, and undoubtedly it's a trend counterfeiters will go after. With six different models available, Beats by Dr Dre cost between 120pounds and 500 pounds, however you’ll find it’s on sale at a market in Cambridge for 15 pounds.

However, it had never seen the counterfeit headphones which prior to this particular brand being released. They're quite sophisticated as a counterfeit item, many people are using the brand to make money illegally, which takes money out of future products.

Consumers are advised to check the wiring of the headphones and quality of the ear padding to check if it is a fake.The cable is not being detachable from the headphone is another sign.

Beats By Dre had no comment on the issue, but offered tips on how to spot a counterfeit including only buying from authorised dealers. Here are the tips for consumer

Beats headphones provided the BBC with the following tips to spot a counterfeit:
1.If the price seems too good it probably is.
2.If a website offers you deals on multiples they are unlikely to be real.
3.Look out for unprofessional packaging.
4.Faded or misspelled words are a sign.
5.Only buy headphones from authorised dealers of the brand.

The fake headphone probably cost only about 1 pounds to make - they are such rubbish headphones. There has been a huge growth in the UK headphone market with sales reaching an all-time high
